My dream: I am somewhere in some house I don't know - a house made up by the dream. I think my childhood friend M is there also - and some other people, made up dream characters. I realize my past boyfriend from when I was a kid is about to show up. It makes me a bit nervous, I think I am hiding in a bathroom. Then I think: he will probably only see and show interest in my friend since she has always been more popular. The I walk out of the bathroom and we, me and the others, are sitting in a room in a little circle. My childhood boyfriend is also there, happy and chill - I feel a sense of relief that there is no uncomfortable tension. I then put my hand/fingers up and around the spine of a girl that sits to the left of me. I start to slowly drag my fingers around her spine downwards. As I do this some kind of energy is triggered inside her, in me and in the room. Maybe in all of us. It gets stronger the further down I go. It feels weird and unusual so we are unsure if we should continue and right before I wake up to end the dream at that moment I get the word "balk". I first think of "balkan" - did it mean that the girl was from Balkan. I then put the word in the dictionary and fund out there is a Swedish word, balk: "stel, orörlig, spänd eller trög i kroppen – som en rak och oflexibel trä- eller metallbalk. " Also the word balk is used in construction, the part that holds up everything: Inom bygg och teknik är en balk ett avlångt bärande element som främst tar upp laster (vikter) som verkar vinkelrätt mot dess längdriktning. Funktion: Den fördelar vikten från till exempel tak, golvbjälklag eller brodäck vidare till stöd som pelare, väggar eller fundament. So, that was my dream of the day!
Dreams can offer intriguing insights into our subconscious mind, emotions, and personal experiences. Let's delve into the various elements of your dream:
The house in your dream represents your mind or self. Since it is an unknown, dream-created house, it may symbolize unfamiliar aspects of yourself or new territories in your life that you are currently exploring.
Seeing your childhood friend might reflect nostalgia or a longing for simpler times in your life. The anticipated arrival of your childhood boyfriend indicates either unresolved feelings from the past or perhaps represents a characteristic or period of your life associated with innocence or joy, which you might be contemplating in your current situation.
This part of your dream suggests feelings of vulnerability or apprehension. Hiding in the bathroom can symbolize a need for privacy or a place to contemplate personal concerns. It also indicates a desire to hide away from perceived judgment or comparison, as seen with the worries about your friend being more popular.
This implies a sense of community and connectedness. The circle is significant; it represents equality and inclusivity. The positive, relaxed presence of your childhood boyfriend suggests reconciliation with past memories or unresolved emotions, leading to a sense of peace.
Dragging your fingers along the girl's spine and inducing an energetic response symbolizes awakening, healing, or revitalizing experiences. It signifies exploring new depths of connection, not just with others but perhaps within aspects of yourself as well.
The emergence of the word "balk" is a crucial point of self-exploration. The Swedish meaning, as you describe it, involves rigidity and inflexibility. This may represent elements within you, or situations in your life, that are steadfast or difficult to change. Alternatively, since "balk" also relates to a vital supportive structure in construction, it may symbolize foundational aspects of your identity or life that lend strength and support.
Your dream seems to be focusing on introspection, unresolved emotions, and the rediscovery of yourself. It underscores both personal limitations ("balk" as rigidity) and inner strength ("balk" as support structure), inviting you to contemplate parts of yourself that are both sheltering (the house) and transformative (the energy around the spine).
Consider this dream as a gentle nudge from your subconscious to explore new dimensions of your personal history, relationships, and inner strengths. Engage with these personal reflections to bring balance and integration into areas that may currently feel uncertain or rigid.
